Hi my name is Gene Delcourt and this is my Humble Crossing, eco-friendly metal-free casket and urn page. This is a hobby business that was a result of a terrible experience with the funeral home industry when my Dad died in 1989. I was so upset by the whole experience that I decided I wanted to do something about it and after retiring from teaching, Humble Crossing was born.
I make my caskets and urns using water soluble glue and pegs and I only use wood I get from tree services in my area. I mill the logs into boards then after a drying period plane them down and hand build your casket. Though my sincerest hope is that they will be used in one of the green cemeteries in the area, they are perfectly legal in all conventional cemeteries as well. My prices range from $800 to $1500.00, depending on details like trim, wood burned artwork and time.
